A real joy to us Cynics (I prefer Realist) is observing how the best laid plans foul up, because "suits" continue never to remember the Law of Unintended Consequences (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unintended_consequence); and I might add, why Master Cramer is a fan of Incrementalism (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Incrementalism) in buying/selling stocks (and dealing with Wall Street in general)

Here are 4 examples of the Law of Unintended Consequences from this week:

(Example 1) (http://community.investopedia.com/news/IA/2008/Memo_To_JPMorgan_Always_Check_The_Fine_Print.aspx) : Even gods should READ-THA-SMALL-PRINT!

(Example 2) (http://freakonomics.blogs.nytimes.com/2008/03/21/your-city-needs-you-to-blow-through-red-lights/): Over "tax enhancing" does NOT work

(Example 3) (http://articles.moneycentral.msn.com/Insurance/InsureYourCar/NewCarsTooToughForCrashRescuers.aspx): Being too safe

(Example 4) (http://digg.com/health/The_5_Most_Ridiculously_Over_Hyped_Health_Scares_o f_All_Time): Scaring the masses

There is NO need to illustrate what has happened to food prices with the politicians push for ethanol, a push, which hopefully after the election, will quietly die

Crystallizing my point here is when watching "CramerLand," you should always be mindful of this law

As a viewer of this show since its inception, I note our Master fouls up come from mainly with his forgetting this law and our Master forgetting his own rules he preaches with his generic shows on how to trade and invest

In the end though, I suspect we are all like the turkey who does NOT see Thanksgiving coming, or the butcher who plans for Thanksgiving, but forgets to protect against the bird flu :)

Unintended Consequences is a great read, required reading for any self-respecting libertarian.
