Why did it dip in the after market. They showed good earnings.

Revenues below estimates.
EMC actually down more on the news which is totally stupid (as Cramer said while screaming at some guy at Penn State).

Actually their Qtr wasn't that bad. Analysts had very high expectations though, so the stock lost it's gains(after hours) it had over the last week. Some deals didn't get completed this Qtr. The pipeline for their next Qtr looks good, but they did announce forward guidance that was lower than the analysts predictions. ORCL was probably just being conservative in their estimates so they can beat the numbers next Qtr. IMO, ORCL is still a good long term play in the tech sector.

I bet ORCL makes another big acquisition soon(within a year). They recently got a 2 billion dollar line of credit. I think their next target will be INFA. INFA is a great company(it's my largest holding). And would fit in nicely with what ORCL is trying to do.

"The Forrester report predicts that Oracle may make yet another critical acquisition: Informatica. The move, which would be primarily to "block" SAP from getting the data-integration company, would help Oracle "effectively support the data integration and data quality needs across its application, middleware and database portfolio," write the Forrester analysts. "While introducing some redundancy for sure, Informatica would help Oracle fast-track that goal."

If a stock rallies 10% + into earnings and only meets EPS targets, slightly misses revenues, and provides a softer outlook they are probably going to get slaughtered in after-hours. One of the reasons I normally take off half of my position if a stock moves like that into its earnings.
