Watched Cramer's show a couple of weeks ago, (2 weeks yesterday), and he mentioned SIRI. After some research that night and the next morning I purchased SIRI for 5.90. Currently up just over 18% in a few weeks. I tried to follow some of his picks but he has been on oil so much lately that I quit following.

Iwas just about to post about sirius. I have sirius since it was about $3 sold alot at about $9 on its downswing and got back in at about $5.50, I was curious if jim has spoken about this stock. My feelings are its the future of radio and being a sirius and xm subscriber i have to say that the content on sirius blows xm away (which i think will make the difference in the long run). You have the ipod rumor, football season starting in september and howard coming on in january. I'm thinking big....

anyone have any opinions on this stock or anyone know what jim said about it?

-Joe

GM just had its largest sales month in June in 19 YEARS and you know with Ford and Dodge now giving the same type of discounts that their sales will boom and in those new GM are satalite radios!

I believe GM is contracted with XM - not Sirius, but you're right that was a monster GM promo - check out the chart for XM from April 28 - June 28 ( http://finance.yahoo.com/q/ta?s=XMSR&t=3m&l=on&z=m&q=l&p=e50,v,e20&a=&c= ) - super great deal for XM.

Decided to sell SIRI today at a 21.5% gain in two weeks. Not bad. GM does have the XMSR contract but I believe SIRI has Ford starting next year, Maybe Chrysler/Jeep also. I decided to make a play on the Hybrid engine and purchased ENER after I sold SIRI. With oil prices going higher I believe there will be more demand for hybrid cars.

I also grabbed Sirius when it was about $3. I remember it was bobbing around $3 +/- 20 cents each day. I grabbed it at $2.70 and was planning on selling it at $3.20...but to my surprise, it jumped to over $9. I sold a little over half of it and held on to rest. I've seen it fall and now it seems to be on the rise again. I'm scared to sell it because I feel it has a strong lead for the future. I've figured that even if I lose all my remaining shares of Sirius, I'd still be up a health amount since I sold half at $9.
Cheers.

I believe that Don C. is recommending SIRI and did so just about 2 weeks ago. I have been singing it's praises for months now but have only recently been able to buy. :? I just purchased a 2005 Nissan Quest which is currently at the dealers getting my new Sirius Satellite installed. The new Nissans are all coming wired for satellite radio. Take your pick, XM or Sirius. It's nice to hear that Sirius is superior.

Sorry if you somehow got the idea that I said more are choosing Sirius. I didn't. In response to someone's comment within this message body that they thought Sirius was better is why I said it is nice to know that Sirius is superior. Anyway, I picked up the van and purchased a 3 year subscription for Sirius satelite. So far so good. The Quest comes with Bose speakers and the satelite radio sounds awesome.

I believe I either read or someone told me that the automakers have to offer a choice now between XM and Sirius, someone complained or it was considered too monopolisitc. In any case, I bought SIRI the day Howard Stern announced he was moving to it, and that he would have his own money tied to it. He will not allow his own money to go down the tubes, rest assured.

I just decided to sell my Sirius stock. I would have kept it a bit longer, but I think it'll be a while before it beats the $7 mark. Now it's time to find the next hot stock.

Cramer just mentioned it this week. He likes XMSR stock better, but doesn't hate SIRI. He subscribes to both and has one in each car.

I think SIRI is going to broadcast football games, that would be cool.

I think Cramer likes XMSR better right now because they have about 4 times more in sales than SIRI. Unfortunately, neither company is posting a profit yet. I like SIRI for the long-term (looking out a year or two) because the stock is so cheap right now compared to XMSR. If SIRI ever posts a profit, look out, the stock could easily double to triple in no time at all. With Howard Stern and possibly football, they should be on their way. I'm keeping my eyes on this one (SIRI) for a possible future investment - oops, I mean TRADE!

agreed. so much attention on energy stocks right now, that the media sector has been neglected. i think if and when oil come back down (can you believe we're at 65.70 bbl???), luxury retail will come back into play.

on one hand, there's no way a company will give a 500MM radio contract if Stern wasnt worth it. and any smart businessman is going to buy cheap, meaning that his actual worth could possibly exceed 500MM.

of course, who knows if the public really is going to buy a SIRI product JUST to listen to Stern. maybe. maybe not. that's TBD. but i've heard that they're programming is preferred over XM, including sports. and that the gap between XM and SIRI in closing. i still rate SIRI as BUY, based on expectations of a solid customer base by year end, football season around the corner, and howard stern in the lineup.

I was looking into SIRI because its a cheap stock with potential, I hope that the combo of sports and Howard Stern will bring in new subscribers and boost the price. What do you guys think of buying SIRI right now? The stock is at about 6.70 now.

dont forget this stock has yet to turn a profit. personally, i see value in this new sector for sat. radio. XM and SIRI will be the pioneers if they can continue to offer superb programming. if you were to take a position, i'd do it before Stern starts broadcasting. net sales continues to increase Q to Q.

If you look at the capitalization of both XMSR & SIRI you will see that they are closer in price than you think. I agree that relative to price SIRI $6 is cheaper than XMSR $33 but look at these statisitics:

Stock 1 - 7.383 Bil (market cap) 221.9 Mil (outstanding shares)
Stock 2 - 8.741 Bil (market cap) 1.328 Bil (outstanding shares)

Which one is SIRI and which one is XMSR? You'd be surprised to see that SIRI (STock 2) is more expensive than XMSR (Stock 1), the reason being is the outstanding shares (221.9 Mil for XMSR & 1.328 Bil for SIRI). If SIRI were to double in price their market cap would be at 17Billion with a negative PE Ratio. If XMSR were to double they would only be at 14Billion market cap. My pick would be XMSR but with Howard Stern and football you never know. So, if you really want to analyze the price of a stock you have to look at the underlying variables such as outstanding shares & market cap.

Sirius may not turn a profit for a while, but it will. I have a chunk of cash in this one, with a cost basis around $6.50. I'm playing for a pop with Howard in early 2006, nothing more.

XMSR is lagging in talent but ahead in technology right now, but they've done nothing about the former and SIRI has done something about the latter. I buy management's statement that they're going to be near parity around xmas.

In the money march calls are a good way to play that pop too.

agree. i'm banking on the stern programming. i think he's going to blow it away. i mean, uncensored, clear, exclusive audience. man, it should be good. in fact, i think more people will join purely on word of mouth on what Stern says. I bet he takes the FCC to the bank....
LT hold for me. Those new subscribers won't translate until Q2 even Q3, IMO.
