I have reset the trading simulator for October - 1st prize is a great trading book. The first prize winner will also have his win displayed under his name in the forum.

If you already played in previous competitions, you already have an account and your can join the October contest with the same username and password by going here (http://vse.marketwatch.com/Game/StartViewGame.aspx?id=OnlineTradersForum). If you are new to the simulator, you can join at anytime. This thread will be used to discuss the game and post updates on the standings.

You start with $100,000 and you can trade stocks long or short. You can only trade stocks above $2.00. Whoever has the highest amount at the close of trading on Friday, October 30, 2009, wins.

I just found out that you can set stops on the trading simulator... wow that would have been nice to know earlier! Next month I guess!

When are the trades placed? closing price? at the time you trade them?

you can place them as market orders or limit orders. usually takes 20-30 minutes to execute though

Thanks... I was wondering about the delay because I had many limit orders that did not fill.

yea it stinks i usually just use market orders which i wouldn't do in real life but i guess we all need to deal with the disadvantages so its fairishh
