I see that some people here feel that ethanol is dead, wrongfully so my fellow trading buddies, ethanol is very much alive! GM has made a commitment to laying the foundation for ethanol capable vehicles (Chevy Volt, Suburban Hybrid, New Impala's are all flex-fuel capable) and will continue to do so. We're seeing this in most of their Chevrolet model cars with the integration of the Flex-Fuel system.

GM has partnered with a company based near Chicago called Coskata. An excerpt from their website:

"Coskata is a biology-based renewable energy company. Our technology enables the low-cost production of ethanol from a wide variety of input material including biomass, municipal solid waste and other carbonaceous material. Using proprietary microorganisms and patented bioreactor designs, we will produce ethanol for under US$1.00 per gallon."
