OK so I've read articles on it, I've watched Tom Cruise talk about it, and make zero sense, and even reviewed it on Wikipedia. It dosnt make a lot of sense to me but any religion takes a little time to understand. I just wanted to get some of you guys/girls opinions on Scientology. I'm not here to bash on the subject, but maybe i could get more insight on it. I will say this when ever i think of L Ron Hubbard i think of a guy with strange eyes that light up when you put quarters in his mouth.

PS: has anyone heard that John Travolta wants out?

Well im an atheist. I don't exclude a superior being though however IMo it can only be a product of nature. i don't exclude anything i can't prove but i won't belive it at that time either. well thats my religious disclaimer, In europe i wouldn't need it but sometimes i get the feeling certain religious devout Americans lok at me as a soon to burn in hell heretic. Ah never mind about that.

Anyway. About scientoligy. It surprizes me that (and for religion this is a precident) to get in Scientoligy you got to pay an fairly hefty entrance fee, let alone a heavy continual membership fee. Thats very perculiar for a "religion", other large widespread religions are open to everyone, infact they often try to split it in people's stomach's in a bid to indoctrinate people with idea's that serve their more worldly agenda.

As any "religion", i can not disprove it. Not that i have to, what would for ex. be the logic to have to disprove that somewhere in the universe there is a solar system sized sheep laying egg's that turn into solar system's? but anyway, apart from that , i can strongly question the fact that they ask money for their info. It's like politicians asking people money for giving them their political views. if no other religion does it, and if it serves no purpose to religion, ( a "temple" could be bought with voluntary donations as in many other religions) then why exactly does Scientoligy charge their members? there seems to be no good apparent reason. In any case religion should never be the knowledge of a few select, any moralistic ideoligy about societal life should feel the urge to spread itself for the matter that by this method it can spread it's moralistic ideal and serve the message of it's "master".

thus, why my oppinion is that Scientoligy is by a very high probabilety a silly money making scheme created by an otherwise somewhat unsuccesfull SF writer. (that was what L ron was before scientoligy)

:dito: Just another philosophy that has been elevated to the status of "Religion" so that some group can charge to belong. Isn't it always about money and power?
