ha ha. i see that tony got upset when i told the other guy how to invest. they said i missed the point. which maby i did. But i will say this. i have an investing style all my own. and well i'm not shy to tell you all how much im investing with
i started out with a mesely $1000, in my etrade account.
now i have $1400 yes i've earned $400 no biggie right.
but i started investing in the middle of september.
my sister is an experienced investor. she gives me advice and 9 times outa 10 i throw it out the window, because i look at alot of diffent things when i'm investing.
I see you guys have soooooo many diffent things you take into effect when buying stocks but i like to stick to the old saying (KISS) keep it simple stupid
because its worked for me. and i've said this numerous times on this forum, that when i get $5000 in working capital im going to run the stock market. n you can take that to the bank.....tony lol
Albert0373

Update us on how much you have next september, then we can talk. Thanks
And by "simple", is hearing a call in the chatroom and immediately buying without looking considered simple? Or seeing Cramer touting a pick and pressing the hotkey to go long with him?
Gains take years and years of experience and discipline. Go back to the Yahoo finance forums where you belong.

albert- when you started investing did you know everything there is to know about stocks?
because i dont and that is why im hear. i say i am keeping it simple with the basics, but i want to learn more and more. yeah i dont use alot of the advice people tell me but i pick up on stuff hear n there and use it some times. If it makes sense to me then i use it. i'm still adjusting to this forum.

Success! New Trader's Journey
A great read and another "cut" on the stages a trader goes through in the journey for consistent profits. Should tie in nicely with the "Day Trade" thread as created by Albert.
This is also published in trade2win.com by Jim Lee
Stage One: The Clueless Trader
This is the first stage when you enter trading. You may have picked up a book on technical analysis somewhere, heard of a day trader making millions, or got lucky in an earlier stock investment. After all, how hard can it be? The money sounds appealing and the freedom to be independent sounds attractive.
I don't mean to shatter anybody's dream but those who succeed in trading are the minority! Approximately 90-95% traders lose money. This is the cold hard facts. In the first stage, every trader is optimistic. You open a direct access brokerage account and the sound of Level II, ask/bid, and market makers make trading sound like hi-tech video game. In reality you have no clue. You will buy just to see the market reverse and you will short just as the market starts to rally. Most of your trades are done emotionally. You buy just because the markets feel strong without any logical reason. You are in the unconscious incompetence stage. You have no clue how the mechanics and psychology of trading works. What's worse? You are not aware that you don't know. Most traders will blow their entire account at this stage.

Congrats, but as you pointed out, you didn't make any money. Penny stocks are extremely volatile and as I found out the hard way holding them overnight can become quite costly. There is the old saying of "don't count your chickens before they hatch." Take the +46.8% gain while you can; it could turn around and become a 46.8% loss in the blink of an eye.
Post your trades in the daily daytrades thread so we can see how you are doing. Remember to post both the winners and the losers ;)

i dont. i think thats to high. but ive noticed that in all area's not just stocks when you talk about getting a little knowledge then losing more.
What happens is traders make easy money for a while but then get completely wiped out when the market turns against them. Or they don't have enough capital to get back on their feet when they start going under from some bad trades. It takes a lot of money, a lot of skill, solid psychological foundations, a winning strategy, time, perserverance, and maybe a bit of luck to be a successful trader. You have to win over a long period of time if you want to make a living at it. Don't let that discourage you - it can be done. But don't get too optimistic at this stage in your career. You will have to pay your dues!

The cognomen "bsgcorp" appears to be associated with bsgmedianetwork.com, which is a domain created in September, 2007. That domain and the cognomen, in turn, promote grant...funds...now....xxx. [I'll not provide yet another link to that site, so I have disguised the url.]
It appears that BSG stands for "Business Success Group." In my first Google search on Friday, I found several scientific forums [bless them, they call them "fora"] complaining about a poster [bsgcorp] posting previously published articles without citing the source.
This evening, Google returned many more hits for "bsgcorp." All of these hits were for posters on various forums [fora?]. In each case, the signature or "home page" of bsgcorp linked to the grant...funds...now site. On several of the fora [OK, I'll use the latin] bsgcorp had already been banned for forum misconduct.

Putting the pressure on for a clever response there net. Well, I don't know much factually about the forex game, but from what I have gleaned I'd say that the big ones you'd find on forex would be akin to the unwanted big ones you'd find on a Thai ladyboy in a Phuket beach bar. What's the motivation? Can he make money somehow with this nonsense? My take on it is that bsg...media...network.com has the job of promoting the Google rating of Grant...funds...now [GFN]. In every case, the bsgcorp handle is associated with the GFN site.
I figure this is someone who is gaming the Google algorithm. As such, if his posts created controversy, and thus more responses, that probably helped with Google.
I see two patterns to the posts.
Get people mad, so they will post to the thread
Appeal to those who would help, so they will post to the thread.
I would be really happy if Thierry not only banned this yo-yo, but also removed all references to GFN.
What's a 20 year old doing impersonating one who's almost 3x his age?Al, my bet is that the 20-year olds come out of this smelling like a rose. I suggest the question is, "What's an old fart doing impersonating a 20-something?"
=====
There is a Business Success Group operating out of Australia.
There was an "international trade" business operating out of the same address as the bsg...media...network. That business bought/sold T-shirts and Caps in bulk, drop ship. The location for this domain was Newcastle, UT. That's about 56 miles from St. George — practically next door in that part of Utah.
The registrant was Daniel Hale. Who knows if that name is valid?
Well, enough of that. I'd rather look at stocks to trade in the week to come.

Well funny you say that david411. I've allways thought that $5000 would be a good number to start up with. I'm working hard to save up ( probably not as hard as i can). But some look half way promising so i will do more research tonight then just set back and watch to see if my predictions were bad or good.
Would you mind posting your picks and why you like them?
Thanks in advance

1. LFMI- OK this is a stock I've bought and sold a few times now. i don't get rich on it because there isn't enough trading on it. but the reason i like this stock is because it stays consistent with its patterns. the thing i look at the most when i purchase stock is simply (the charts) if it looks like a roller coaster i hope on it when it gets down to my level. I'll even tell you when i buy n sell this stock. I wait until it gets to .04 then i buy, and any time it rises up over .07 i sell. pretty simple. I've done that 2 times now on this stock. and i will do it as long as it lets me
2. IQW- I liked this stock because i started to watch it yesterday, i tuned in my radio at $1.30. I saw that it had taken a major drop recently, and figured that it would act like a rubber ball and bounce back. the PR's didn't seem like they were going to continue to destroy this stock. another thing was the fact that it's on NYSE so it' has standards that have to be meet price wise. I don't believe that this is a stock to hang on to for a long time, simply because it's already hurting, I've just noticed that when companies fall off like that they bounce back for a week to a month. then its up in the air after that right now this stock is at 1.93 and still going up.
3. PAL- $3.58 this is another rebound stock. the PR's keep talking about a buy out. If this happens it will spring up for a while and i feel that you could make a buck on this share. i will not buy this stock personally because i would rather just watch my predictions and see if I'm on the right track as far as monitoring goes.
4. SIMG- $4.95 i started to watch this stock as soon as someone on this board had brought it up. i could be wrong but I'm pretty positive that i heard about this stock on here. I like the looks of it. i have not done a lot of research on this company but when i look at the charts it seems like it could come back. I don't have a good opinion on this stock but just a hunch it looks like a possible winner.
5.TGB- $4.75 another stock i heard about on this forum. it is a profitable company and it keeps going up and a steady rate. I am looking into buying this stock. I wouldn't purchase this stock unless i could own at least 1000 shares and unfortunately I'm not there yet. but i fell that in the long this is going to be a great stock. the company continues to be more and more profitable, and the PR's are positive
bonus 6. ABWG - this was a stock I've been watching since i started trading 3 months ago, it was right at .02 and i kept looking into the company, it showed a lot of future promises but i felt that it may just be stroking me. Everyone has good intentions but that doesnt guarantee anything. I started to see movement on this stock around the 20th of October, i watched it get up to .07 and i figured it would go down, now it's raised up to .10 it's peeked in the last 3 months at .13 and now it' has been hovering around .10. I'm waiting for it to drop once again back down to .02 and this time i will pick it up. I like this stock because i actually like the company and what it does. I'm a fan of motivational info. I'm not a fan of the sales company that got added in to this stock, but for the time being it seems to be a plus.

DSTI- this is another one of my picks if you look at the charts it should tell you why i like this for a pick. yesterday would have been a good day to purchase this stock, and the day before would have been even better. I feel that it's going to do nothing but rise for a $1 or more. and then like a roller coaster drop back down. Theres not a huge amount of trading being done on this stock but if your like me trying to get in on 1000 shares then it looks promising. This company isn't a power house in profits but the stocks seem to be steady so i like it.
I would like someone to give me imput on my picks and see what they have to say about them. it would be greatly appreciated.

Not only no, but hell no. I love solar, but DSTI has consistently gone down recently and is approaching half of it's value from only 10 days ago. They have no income and estimated annual growth of -100% with 7,000,000 shares outstanding and a current assessed value of $.66 per share with a share price of $3.64 which is down from $5.73 YTD. I'm not sure of their specific developments in the works, please reply with why it got this far on what pending developments/news, but objevtively it's not there yet.

i dont understand puts n calls. I have been told you can make alot of money in doing that, but i dont understand how its much different then just buying and selling, I need a good book on stocks. Maby i should buy stocks for dummys, and get the basics down so i can understand the whole puts n calls idea. Anyways, i havn't bought any DSTI.

I'm hope I saved you some money in January on DSTI. Sometimes I find it easier (or more obvious) to see what's not going to happen, and I'm not Bearish. Maybe I should be:
