I was just wondering how you would rate the US economy's performance right now. I was arguing with a college friend today that the economy was doing poorly and brought up reasons such as: the poor stock market conditions, weak dollar, bad housing market, and the financial sectors troubles. Would you agree with me that the US economy is performing poorly or no?

I would agree, but point out the jobs numbers are a very important component to the overall economy, and until they start to go south the average person isn't gonna agree out of hand. If they start down watch out for a long period of economic trouble. Right now I think we're sitting at a cusp that has the potential for a precipitous drop, but we still may dodge the bullet.

I think in we are in need of a recession. The weak dollar should help our net exports out remendously, which will in turn lower our trade deficit. weak dollar = good times
