Just wondering which browser some of you guys are running since I've had to switch again. I used to use Firefox until it became a bloated memory hog, then switched to Opera until the last version update made it a useless freeze-up application requiring frequent reboots. So now I'm trying Safari for Windows and so far I'm quite impressed, definitely uses less memory which keeps my fan off longer which in turn keeps me happy as I hate the distraction of a fan acting as though it is staging for a launch into space.

So in case I encounter some unforseen bugs with Safari does anyone have some other browsers they would care to recommend?

Well I use Firefox and I love it, I do notice it takes up quite a bit of memory compared to other browsers but I seemed to take a liking to it over the past few years. I'm a gamer so my computer is quite beefed up so I can still have 10 Firefox windows open and not notice a difference in my game.

I use IE7 on my laptop but that's just because I haven't gotten around to install Firefox yet. I just like the way Firefox looks, thats all. I haven't personally tried Opera yet, except for a mobile version on my smartphone but that doesn't count.

A while ago, someone compared different browsers and showed how they stacked up against each other:

Opera seems to be most efficient at memory management when having multiple windows/tabs open.

Different tastes/expectations I suppose. I usually have 12-15 tabs open 24/7 on my notebook and memory should not be an issue at 2GB. I can't stand IE and only use it if I can't get the page to work properly with any other browser.

I've been thinking about replacing this notebook with an Apple when the time comes anyway, I suppose the browser performance may help me make that decision one way or the other.

Something Ironic about "looking around for browsers". Reminded me of the scene in Easy Money where Rodney Dangerfield and Joe Pesci are "Browsing"

Rodney was here a few years back, with his wife Joan
