Hi,
I'm in my senior year of college and was wondering If I could take the Series 7 exam while I was finishing up school or if that was something that I had to take once I got on with a company???

Thanks in Advance!

In order to take the Series 7 you need to be sponsored by a company.

This business has gotten extremely competitive. Any licensing that you do can work to your advantage. Independently, and without company affiliation, you can take the SERIES 65 (http://www.aitraining.com/series65.htm). The Series 65 is to become a Registered Investment Adviser. It is for fee based financial planning. It looks terrific on a resume, takes about 4 weeks to study for, and is given daily like all the other exams. Another good independent test you can do is the SERIES 63 (http://www.aitraining.com/series63.htm). The Series 63 is pretty much mandatory to work in the investment business. Note: You can take the SERIES 66 (http://www.aitraining.com/series66.htm) independently, but this license is only active when you also pass the Series 7. You can take the 66 first though. All self registration exams can be taken using the U-10 form, which can be found on our links (http://www.aitraining.com/links.htm) page.

"Q: What licenses can I get on my own to make myself more attractive to employers?

I reiterate you have no life. And yes it was copy and pasted but who cares it perfectly answered the kids question.

it perfectly answered the kids question.

It didn't asnwer the question at all.

And, you asserted that statement it as if it was filled with your own thoughts and words.

That's called plagiarism.

I didn't want to pile on this guy, because you guys have done a fine job of stomping on him, but this is getting ridiculous.

And here's my sad attempt to answer the question:

Any situation where you are licensed to handle someone else's money is going to require a lot of rules and regulations.

The companies who sponser people for their Series 7 have a lot of experience, have jumped through many hoops, and pay a lot of money to be in the position they are in.

One of the main purposes for all this is to prevent scumbags from defrauding the less informed.

Fraud is something we're learning a lot about on this forum these days.

There are people on this board who are more qualified to answer this question though, so I'll step aside and let them weigh in now.

Yeah really, I want to give the guy the benefit of the doubt. I still say it's the internet & lots of people pretend to be things they aren't behind a monitor. This is just a case of it. That's why they call it the internet.

But dewd, Red Stripe...if you're going to freaking copy something verbatim - at least say so before the fact. jeez.
