well I've been in zecco for roughly 4 or 5 weeks, my "hedge fund" is up about 7%. while the S and P is down about 3 or so. Anyway heres my holdings as of now, feel free to comment and critique.

AAPL- killer earnings, still running

ALU (short)- getting beat up lately, unfortunately formed a strategic alliance with RIMM which may hurt me a little on this one

AMX- big telecom in Latin America, weather well through the storm last week

CELG- best biotech period, for growth that is

DRYS- biggest gainer this past year, need I say more, I feel this thing will double again, last I checked it had a 30 P/E which isn't bad for the shipping industry

DXD- bought today for some protection, getting some heat for it

FWRD (short)- trucking is in a recession

FXI- I love china, best way to play ADR's

GS- lookin to dump it and take gains, but it got hit hard last week, lookin for a slight recovery

HPQ- great product line IMO, might trade it in for a more speculative stock, as I'm not in this game to play defense

LUK- thank you aiki, best stock out there IMO, great returns thus far, nice pullback, thinking about a MUCH larger position in it soon

MO- smaller holding, I like making money off of smoking addictions

OI- Janus Contrarian's (favorite fund) biggest holding, nice trend, not many competitors

PCU- other than international, copper is where it's at, smaller than FCX but better IMO

POT- you all know I like POT

RIMM- up 10% today because of it forming an alliance with ALU, this is another stock I pick to split then double again within the next year

RIO- one of the largest companies out there, diversified mining, very volatile though

X- soon to be gone, but I like this company after it was beat up badly earlier this year, Andrew Carnegie started it which is interesting

Dropped LVLT short yesterday before it dropped 20% today:oops: I'm kicking myself, the earnings stunk!!

Here's what I got as of today:

Informatica(INFA) - My largest holding. The last major independant enterprise data integration software and services player. It's growing and is a buyout play.

Art Technology Group(ARTG) - A swing trade that turned into a long holding. They develop and market e-commerce software products. I think IBM, MSFT or DRIV might eventually buy them.

Microsoft(MSFT) - An under owned cash cow. PC sales are hot. Most still haven't upgraded to VISTA yet, but eventually will. They might finally start making money on their gaming division too.

Best Buy(BBY) - Electronics retailer that just raised guidance. It should be a very good XMAS for electronics. I think it's undervalued.

Grey Wolf(GW) - A USA land oil and gas driller. Probably has bottomed. Should rebound better than most when the sector turns around. A very boring stock. It moves soooooooooo slow.

Celgene(CELG) - A biopharmaceutical company that is growing like crazy. Not for the weak hearted investor. It has lots of swings.

I2 Technologies(ITWO) - They provide supply chain management solutions. This is strictly a buyout play. Hopefully it gets sold before 2008.

World Wrestling Entertainment(WWE) - Doesn't everybody love wrestling??? I love their 6.3% dividend!

Lawson Software(LWSN) - They sell ERP software. 3rd largest player behind Oracle and SAP. They are growing and doing very well. Always a takeout play. 2008 should be a very good year. Finally getting some recognition from the market.

LCAPA, LINTA & DISCA - All holdings from Liberty media. DISCA has had a great year. LINTA has been disappointing, but is a great cash cow. I still believe in John Malone.

Infospace(INSP) - 1st stock I ever bought. I'm not selling it, but don't recommend it. Infospace has been selling different parts of the company and should only remain as a search engine. They should be giving another large one-time dividend sometime soon. I might actually make money on this stock. :)

BBY, CELG, MSFT and ITWO are position trades. Everything else is a long term holding. I'll sell WWE if/when they ever stop giving out their dividend. Remember to do your own research before buying. Good luck.

See the sig...

and I bought MSFT, sold DRYS

I like a lot of your holdings, though you must have quite a bit of money in there not to be spread out too much.

I was watching LUK, there was a ton of insider selling recently so I wont be touching it for a while. Looks like a good stock but I wouldn't be surprised if it corrected a bit.

I'll play.

AAPL - Bought under $90 in early Jan in anticipation of iPhone. Added twice more under $100. My 2nd largest holding. Biggest gainer. May keep for awhile longer.
BQI - Token oil sands stock. My smallest position.
COP - Global demand for oil isn't going away anytime soon. Good enough for Warren Buffett...
CROX - Sorry I didn't get in sooner. Hot products. If they ever make running shoes...
GOOG - Owns the internet. Great company dominating their market. gPhone?
HK - Independent oil & nat gas company. More than doubled since I first bought shares in '05.
INTC - King of the semi's. Been eating AMD's lunch for awhile now.
LUK - Read about this company over a year ago. Liked it but only bought a few months ago.
MO - Gotta love addictive products. Largest holding. 3rd largest gainer.
NVDA - King of the GPU market. Bought as a Motley Fool recommendation in '05.
PCP - Fabricates specialty parts for aerospace, power generation, automotive industries. Opened my long position in May.
TASR - Great and necessary product. No direct competitors. Stock's stigma dimishing. Growing worldwide demand.
USB - 5% yield. I needed a financial. Less exposure to low quality loans. Good enough for W.B...

With little details here are my current holdings:

ABB - Conglomerate that is included as an international play.

FLO - Flowers corp as a non cyclical steady.

FRPT - Defensive play on the MRAP vehicles and Cougar. Awaiting earnings and this makes for a great channeling stock to swing trade. Have done so at 15.50.

MASI - IPO from this summer and has been stellar thus far. Medical equipment (non invasive).

JEC - Construction services with a superior safety rating in the industries that they are employeed in. Thursday it will be added to the S&P 500.

XOM - A global real estate play, no really BIG OIL.

Cash - 10%.

liking the holdings, my tactic which is GREAT for kids in college that want to learn, go to Zecco, now you only get 10 free trades a month  but still, buy 20 stocks or short and let it run, manage your own hedge fund, I've done great like I said, I'm up 7% while the S&P is down currently. I've also learned a lot since I started. I bought GRMN when it was down and couldn't handle it as I was a weak hand, now I kick myself every day, o well. I'd be 100% happy managing a grand of my money or 100k of my money, I know I can beat most funds. You might think my fund is riskier than most mutuals but during that down spell, the only day I was down significant was friday and all those losses are made up for now. this is by FAR my favorite trading tactic. Good luck all, keep going, good feedback.

Which of the following stocks would you buy for the long term right now? I need to pick two for my portfolio. I will invest $2500 in each of them. At this point I have AAPL, MO, GS, KFT, BQI.

FXI
AMX
LUK
PCU

If you have other suggestions, please let me know. Thanks a lot.

I love china but I'd take LUK DEFINITELY then if you want to play something a little more risky I'd go DRYS- great potential and a cheap P/E @ 21, which is on par for the industry but much cheaper than most of it's competitors. But it's very volatile, good thing most of it's to the upside. PCU is good too if you want copper (MAY be topped out or getting close, but I'm still long). Don't go with AMX if you want a telecom go with CHL china mobile it's much better growth wise (CHL is in FXI too so that goes back to the China play).

Good luck, use DD
