Anyone playing this thing for earnings, I'm predicting a 6% move either way, Najarian said 6-8% is what the options are showing. If we go up, I'm feeling a run, If they miss earnings, i think we'll take a hit today aftermarket and fill the gap later next week. :) win win situation IMO.

Funny you should ask. I have learned to stay away from earnings as history has shown me they are all guesses (in my case).
Well, i'm in a big trade with AAPL today, and profitable mind you, and I get this wild hair to stick around. Looks like I'm holding through earnings.
Needless to say I'm ready for tequila thirty on this one.
8)
A lot of people have become bearish on Apple lately, but good luck
Monster quarter. Beat by 20 some cents, up 11% in after hours, makes you wonder if a split is coming soon and off to the races again on this one

Hold on till at least end of day tomorrow as it will gap up and run higher, possibly even on Wedesday, but I would sell then. Nice catch.

I tend to scale in once profitable and then trade as the price warrants.
No worries.
A couple more blocks on a pullback tomorrow or Wednesday...see how she runs.
I did get lucky on the earnings piece. I hate overnights with pure trades and I really hate overnights with earning on pure trades.
I'll take luck anytime. 8O This could have just as well been costly and another "lesson". ;)

A profitable lesson, I don't buy for earnings, I'm just holding for my "hedge fund" as I call it, nice run, NICE CALL by Najarian, he called 6-8% either way, Spot on.

From Bloomberg, this bodes well for the nasdaq tomorrow:
Japanese Tech Stocks May Rise on Apple Profit, Hitachi Report
By Patrick Rial
Oct. 23 (Bloomberg) -- Japanese technology stocks may rise after Apple Inc. said profit jumped by two-thirds and the Nikkei newspaper said Hitachi Ltd. will exit the personal computer business, boosting speculation reduced competition will aid profits for other companies.
Yesterday, the Nikkei slumped 2.2 percent to 16,438.47 and the Topix index lost 1.8 percent to 1,563.07, paring losses of as much as 3.3 percent for both benchmarks. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index rose 0.4 percent in the U.S.
``Toward the end of yesterday the market started to rebound a bit and that should carry through to today as well, helped by the performance of the U.S.,'' said Terunobu Kinoshita, who helps manage $785 million at Fund Creation Co. in Tokyo.
Sumitomo Metal Mining Co., may lead declines by commodities- related companies after prices of gold, copper and oil fell.
Lenders such as Mizuho Financial Group Inc. may climb after Bear Stearns Cos. said China's Citic Securities Co. will pay $1 billion for a 6 percent stake in the company, shoring up confidence in the financial company most affected by the subprime mortgage crisis.
Nikkei 225 Stock Average futures expiring in December last traded in Chicago at 16,525, up from the close of 16,380 in Osaka and 16,325 in Singapore yesterday. The Bank of New York Japan ADR Index, which tracks the nation's American depositary receipts, climbed 1.5 percent.
U.S.-traded receipts of Hitachi, Japan's largest maker of electronics, rose 1 percent from the closing share price in Tokyo yesterday. Those of Sony Corp., the maker of Vaio computers, climbed 1.6 percent. Receipts of Nintendo Co., the maker of the Wii game console, advanced 1.3 percent.
Apple Profit
Apple's fourth-quarter profit jumped 67 percent to $6.22 billion, topping analyst estimates, on sales of computers, iPods and iPhones. The shares rose 7 percent in after-hours trading.
Hitachi will stop making personal computers for home use, a business it has had since 1978, the Nikkei reported. The move is a sign that Japanese companies are focusing their business operations, according to the report.
Sumitomo Metal Mining is Japan's biggest nickel maker. Mitsubishi Corp., the nation's largest trading company, generates the second-biggest proportion of its sales from selling crude and industrial fuel and the third-largest proportion from metals trading. Inpex Holdings Inc. is the nation's biggest oil explorer.
A measure of six metals traded on the London Metal Exchange, including copper and zinc, slid 1.6 percent yesterday. Crude oil for November delivery fell 1.2 percent to $87.56 a barrel in New York. The December contract recently changed hands at $85.63.
A measure of banking shares included in the Topix has slid 13 percent in the last two weeks as subprime concerns mounted following earnings declines at U.S. companies including Citigroup Inc. and Wachovia Corp.
Bear Stearns, which had two hedge funds collapse earlier this year due to losses on subprime-linked investments, will partner with China's Citic to develop financial products and services in China, the companies said. Bear will take a $1 billion stake in Citic.
Sharp Corp., Japan's biggest maker of solar panels, may fall after reporting a 17 percent decline in second-quarter profit because of lower profitability at its solar power unit.

this statement reminds me of MO and SU, both stocks that this board had a following for, everyone said 100 for these 2 stocks...anyways, this thing will go to 200 and beyond, Next Google??? 600??? I'd say long term we should see 300, Steven Jobs and his company are on the ball. I will sell when this thing calms down and most likely buy it back when I realize it was dumb .

IMO, Apple is a great company similar to google in greatness. I remember telling my dad to buy shares when ipods came out. The stock was at $40 then and look now. I always remind my dad that he should of listened to me. Unless Apple can't come up with a great new product (past- ipod and iphone), they will keep growing rapidly. I wanted to buy the stock at 160 because i heard the guys on fast money saying it would hit 200. I'm angry because now its in the 180's.
