I saw an interesting article today on businessweek.com:

The company already has a large number of stores, ~700 and plan to double that to >1200 by the end of 2011. I'm interested to hear some of the ladies' views on Kohl's. Based on the article, they want to focus on the working mom demographic.

Hello TB,

I can tell you that at least one day a month my three sisters and I plan the one hour trip to our nearest Kohl’s. This month we went twice. We don’t really fit the “working mom” profile because two of us are business owners, one a bank manager and one financially independent, but we do love to shop there! Sometimes we take our mom, who never worked a day in her life.

We always spend a great deal of money- more than any of plan on- because the values are unstoppable. Last time we were in (last week) Kitchen Aid was 40% off and sweaters 50% off. I simply don’t understand how they turn a profit.

The customer service is better than Macy’s in my opinion and returns are lightening fast- which is very important to me.

We oftentimes have to take two vehicles because we can not fit all of our purchases in the Subaru wagon, so we take the Expedition as well- plenty of room for packages in that behemoth. Actually we filled them both last trip.

We stop by PNRA for lunch and visit a BKS and TJX on the way home.

Although my favorite shopping trip is about two hours away where we have an outlet mecca with my favorites- RL and COH- we can not afford to visit there too often as we spend just too much money on non-essentials.

Kohl’s web site is wonderful as well. Oh, and three people on my gift list asked for Kohl’s gift cards this year.
