Some of you are too young to remember, but this is the way it was….

No matter what our kids and the new generation think about us, WE ARE AWESOME, OUR LIFE IS LIVING PROOF !!!!

TO ALL THE KIDS WHO SURVIVED THE 1930's, 40's, 50's,
60's and 70's!!

First, we survived being born to mothers who smoked and/or drank while they were pregnant. (not mine)

They took aspirin, ate blue cheese dressing, tuna from a can and didn't get tested for diabetes.

Then after that trauma, we were put to sleep on our tummies in baby cribs covered with bright colored lead-base paints.

We had no childproof lids on medicine bottles, locks on doors or cabinets and when we rode our bikes, we had baseball caps
no helmets on our heads.

As infants & children, we would ride in cars with no car seats, no booster seats, no seat belts, no air bags, bald tires and sometimes no brakes.

Riding in the back of a pick- up truck on a warm day was always a special treat.

We drank water from the garden hose and not from a bottle.

We shared one soft drink with four friends, from one bottle
and no one actually died from this.

We ate cupcakes, white bread, real butter and bacon. We drank Kool-Aid made with real white sugar. and, we weren't overweight. WHY?

Because we were always outside playing....that's why!

We would leave home in the morning and play all day, as long as we were back when the streetlights came on..

No one was able to reach us all day. And, we were OKAY.

We would spend hours building our go-carts out of scraps
and then ride them down the hill, only to find out we forgot the brakes. After running into the bushes a few times, we learned to solve the problem

We did not have Play stations, Nintendo's and X-boxes. there were no video games, no 150 channels on cable,
no video movies or DVD's, no surround-sound or CD's, no cell phones,
no personal computers, no Internet and no chat rooms.

WE HAD FRIENDS and we went outside and found them!

We fell out of trees, got cut, broke bones and teeth and there were no lawsuits from these accidents.

We would get spankings with wooden spoons, switches, ping pong paddles, or just a bare hand and no one would call child services to report abuse.

We ate worms and mud pies made from dirt, and the worms did not live in us forever.

We were given BB guns for our 10th birthdays, made up games with sticks and tennis balls and, although we were
told it would happen, we did not put out very many eyes.

We rode bikes or walked to a friend's house and knocked on the door or rang the bell, or just walked in and talked to them.

Little League had tryouts and not everyone made the team.
Those who didn't had to learn to deal with disappointment.
Imagine that!!

The idea of a parent bailing us out if we broke the law was unheard of. They actually sided with the law!

These generations have produced some of the best risk-takers, problem solvers and inventors ever.

The past 50 years have been an explosion of innovation and new ideas.

We had freedom, failure, success and responsibility, and we learned how to deal with it all.

If YOU are one of them, CONGRATULATIONS!

You might want to share this with others who have had the
luck to grow up as kids, before the lawyers and the government regulated so much of our lives for our own good.

While you are at it, forward it to your kids so they will know how brave and lucky their parents were.

Kind of makes you want to run through the house with scissors, doesn't it ?

'With hurricanes, tornados, fires out of control, mud slides, flooding, severe thunderstorms tearing up the country from one end to another,
and with the threat of bird flu and terrorist attacks, are we sure this is a good time to take God out of the Pledge of Allegiance?'

Jay Leno.

Gawdamn! That brought a tear to my eye. Generation X, Y, Z or who the fuc*ever is in control now only has Gekko as a role model. I'll take playing "doctor" in the back forty and being fearless growing up against any of the supposed pleasures that money can buy. .... Ha! totally empty! Like the empty building they try to sell. See thru real estate and see thru lives.

I wrote this awhile back.

I Miss the 60's, the most.
Remember how innocent things seemed when you were a kid?
You bet, an uncomplicated adventure.
Learning to ride a bicycle without training wheels, racing your red wagon, building a snow fort, even the snowball fights were cool.
Wearing out the swing set, that was a blast.
Couldn't wait for Christmas, your birthday is a National holiday.
Halloween was awesome, free candy.
Playing Baseball, football, Hockey, basketball.
Roller Skating on four steel wheels, and running for your life.
The warm spring days with Tulips blooming and the smell of Lilacs, my favorite. The green grass, going to a friends house
and raiding the Garden armed with a bottle of table salt eating tomatoes and raspberries.
Catching Bumble Bees, and Grasshoppers with a glass jar with nail holes in the lid. Burning Ants with a magnifying glass, cool- and pitching pennies.
Frisbees, hula hoops and GI Joe, your sisters playing Barbie and making rock pies in their easy bake oven, Twister.
A real Christmas tree, with tinsel. Your favorite toy, ever. Schwinn bicycles, the Sting Ray with 5 speeds, hi handle bars and a banana seat.
Sleeping in the bunk beds, awaking to your older brother on top wizzing the bed, trying to drown you in the lower bunk.
The measels and Chicken Pox, staying home from school.
Watching a color TV for the first time, only the commercials were in color in 1964. And don't forget you were the remote control.
The crushes you had on girls, Valentines day.
TV shows, Combat,Dennis the Menace, Batman, Superman, Dark Shadows, Time tunnel, Land of the Giants, the Green Hornet.
Planet of the Apes, how cool was that?.
The music was the best, british invasion, Motown.
Detroit Tigers, World champs 1968.
Eight track tape players and Quadraphonic stereo systems, strobe lights.
Your first stereo and records, 45 rpm. Beatle boots and groom & gleem in your hair, Brylcream, fancy names for grease, Paisley shirts.
The cool cars, Buicks, Oldsmobiles, Pontiacs and Chevrolet, Cadillacs, chrome bumpers so shiny you could shave looking in them.
Riding in a 1962 Impala convertible, the first time you were in a car with Air condition, and it froze your ass. 25 cent a gallon for fuel.
The milk was delivered in glass bottles, fresh bread, the produce cart came down the street, fresh fruits and vegetables.
The under dash 45 rpm record players. FM stereo, wow.
Blonde hair, nylons and the Mini Skirt, my all time Favorites!
Cashing in pop bottles, penny candy, comic books, Baseball cards, Topps rock hard bubble gum,
going to the Dairy Queen for an ice cream cone and swimming all day, getting sun burned.
The board games, cards, war, fish, old maid, 52 pick-up.
It was good not knowing of all the turmoil that was going on at that time.
Never a worry except what are you going to do tomorrow.

Hey as much as we don't agree on...well virtually anything, I'm with you on this. I'm from the same era.

Kids today though aren't worried how screwed up the world is ..they're gonna have their own list in 40 years yearning for the good old days & how things used to be better. It's not going to be playing war & go fish card games though...probably video games tearing somebody's heart out with their bare hands or taking out a school class with a semi automatic weapon but still....it'll be good times remembered upon.

Dear Baby Boomers of America…

I read that garbage before, HA!

That is exactly the representation of the X,Y,Z, generation they are whining crying selfish sissy assed bitches.

Reinstate the draft and watch the X,Y,Z, generation go home crying to mommy. That I would love to see.

Lyndon Johnson sentenced over 50,000 of our older brothers to death in 'NAM.

All generations seem to be victim of the one before. It isn't the always the blame of the people,
it is the corruption of politicians once in public office that ruins our nation, no matter which generation.
