What sectors normally are the most volatile and can result in quick gains in short periods of time? I'm guessing oil and energy are both good short term picks but are there others?

Basic Materials, Energy, Metal Mining, Construction (supplies & fixtures)...those four have BLOWN away the S&P 500 this year :D

Solar is the most volatile, in my opinion

Huge swings, either way

YGE, LDK, FSLR, STP, CSUN, HOKU, etc

Not that I know of.. There are three "clean energy" ETFs that seem to be heavily weighted in solar stocks, however

PZD, PBD and PBW

All three invest in solar and all three look very bullish to me
