Small timeframe movement seem to be what both disciplines require... But is there a "Free Charting" package out there that Forex Spot traders and Day Traders use to success? Or is it a matter of "you get what you pay for and the best out there for that is_________"? Thanks for answering a newbie... getting ready to wade in to the water.

A lot of Forex traders use MetaTrader. It is very customizable and there are a lot of free scripts out there for it. Many forex brokers use some form of MetaTrader.
GFT and some others use Dealbook 360. This is also a decent platform.
Most Forex brokers give you a "30 Day" free trial of their live charts, though they rarely turn it off after those 30 days, so you could effectively use free charts indefinitely.
As far as stocks go, NinjaTrader offers some good free live charts as long as you're a customer of one of their participating brokers. (TDAmeritrade, Interactive Brokers, MB Trading etc. - MB Trading also happens to be a forex broker...) I think NinjaTrader also does Forex charts now that I think of it.
ThinkorSwim also offers free web-based live charts without an account, I believe.
Your broker should also offer some sort of free live charting, and depending on your broker they could be complete garbage, or absolutely awesome.

Thanks Shark. So I am gathering that there should be more than enough/adequate free charts out there for either discipline. I have heard a lot about Metatrader 4, but always about it being a "platform", one that is used by most brokers. However, I did not know it also came with charts as well. Thanks again. Anyone else want to weigh in?
