Like Ive mentioned in the other forum - The Power Curvehttp://www.assoc-amazon.com/e/ir?t=fiasco-20&l=as2&o=1&a=0977801829 (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0977801829/ref=as_li_tf_tl?ie=UTF8&tag=fiasco-20&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=0977801829) by Scott G Kyle. It isnt a complete beginners book but definately simple and straight forward enough to begin with - as you get further into the book it gets more complex and specifies various trading strategies.
Good Luck !!

Yup, as stated above, depends upon your trading style, as well as personality, risk level etc.

I merely paper trade, I love the challenge of learning new ways to invest. On my 18th birthday I bought "Come Into My Trading Room" by Alexander Elder and It was very in-depth into how to view charts and see patterns, and It made me much more effective at keeping winners and seeing potential losers.
It also made me more optimistic about a potential career in trading stocks.

I would recommend "Technical Analysis of the Financial Markets (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0735200661/ref=as_li_tf_tl?ie=UTF8&tag=fiasco-20&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=0735200661)" by John J. Murphy.
I would also recommend web site: http://www.ta-guru.com. You will find there lot of stuff about technical analysis and trading. You can also try your knowledge using free online chart with 50 indicators and drawing tools.

For a good take on fundamental analysis with an eye on buying value, check out Rule#1 (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0307336840/ref=as_li_tf_tl?ie=UTF8&tag=fiasco-20&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=0307336840) from Phil Town.

He published a new book, Payback Time (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0307461866/ref=as_li_tf_tl?ie=UTF8&tag=fiasco-20&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=0307461866). Which should I read? The newer, the better? Or should I read the both?
For a good take on fundamental analysis with an eye on buying value, check out Rule#1 from Phil Town.

Vadymn Graifer (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0071414908/ref=as_li_tf_tl?ie=UTF8&tag=fiasco-20&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=0071414908) wrote a very good book. One of the best IMO.
Can't remember the name though.

I would also agree with "Technical Analysis of the Financial Markets (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0735200661/ref=as_li_tf_tl?ie=UTF8&tag=fiasco-20&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=0735200661)" by John J. Murphy. This book is long and very detailed, especially for new investors. I think Murphy does a great job explaining.
Also, I like Alexander Elder's "Come Into My Trading Room (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0471225347/ref=as_li_tf_tl?ie=UTF8&tag=fiasco-20&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=0471225347)" This was also a useful read.

My favorite two books...
Security Analysis (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0070244960/ref=as_li_tf_tl?ie=UTF8&tag=fiasco-20&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=0070244960)

udelfb92, if you want to check out a value type investing book with technical anaylsis too, check out Phil Town's Rule # 1 (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0307336840/ref=as_li_tf_tl?ie=UTF8&tag=fiasco-20&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=0307336840) investing
Also, id read Rule # 1 over his latest Book Pay Back (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0307461866/ref=as_li_tf_tl?ie=UTF8&tag=fiasco-20&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=0307461866) time.
Pay back time is more true long term investing, and knowing that when the market tanks its not a big deal since your in it for LONG TERM
Rule # 1 is same concepts except you also you technical analysis while your ride a quality company's stock.

Most of these books are very outdated...
how much does that matter if online trading is my goal?

Just because they were published a while ago doesn't mean they are outdated.

I would say it depends on where your at in your investing evolution.
How long have you been trading and what markets and timeframes suit your disposition? Knowing a few things first will help to narrow the list down to if you need a focused book about candles and trading systems or if you need something more broad and textbook like.
I've got plenty I can recommend. Just let me know.
