Yea I saw them, actually even used them a couple of times. Its great, you don't pay anything and get good reservations for restaurants. They have a email list you can be on for your city.

Interesting, but I checked them out, and they don't even list my favorite places, McDonalds, Wendy's, Burger King, Steak and Shake. There is nothing worse than having a big client in town, and I can't get a table at McDonalds!!

what is the difference between this and calling the restaurant itself?

Those who bought OPEN yesterday near close at 34, dreaming that they will make a quick buck today have a rude awakening. What? 30? A lost of 10%+ overnight?
This ain't 1999.
Oh well... I am in "for the long haul" now.

They don't have enough rev yet, they initially were hoping to IPO at $12 and then because of the demand it got bumped to $16-$18 and then it went to $35, just crazy. People get caught in the hype, but once everybody has a smart phone and is doing business and everything on there it will pick up. Because instead of calling the restaurant and waiting on the phone and almost expecting someone to make a human error it is almost better you do it this way and it takes you like 5 mins.

I see this kind of businesses as "neat". But it is hardly ground breaking (like Google or Microsoft). I wouldn't see it as the next Yahoo, next Microsoft, next Ebay, next Netscape, next "The Globe" (oops, where are they now?). If they can be nicely profitable, it is so easy for competitors to come in and duplicate. They can only then rely on brand name, loyalty and "first" presence.

Interesting Info guys. Never booked via Opentable.

That is ridiculous. Wonder how this stock can work its way higher in this market without knowing how much money they will make in future. Also volume is not great on this stock.
Stay Away!
Anyway, How are you doing Riddicks? Never talked after that WSE issue! Hope things are fine!

The big diff for me is you can search for a type of restaurant, then check out their menu, then make a reservation in one easy way.

Same as ordering pizza online vs. calling into the parlor to place your order.
(Worked like a charm for Papa Johns, implementing an online system boosted their orders)
It's more convenient and hassle-free: no waiting on the phone, no awkward moments, no repeating of orders, etc.

haha, this is off topic, but what type of awkward moments you get from ordering piazza? I can barely think of any

Hmm, good question. I have no clue hahaha, I was just listing things off the top of my head.
Maybe I should have said no confusion.
Going even more off-topic: speaking of awkward, how about introductions...
-"Hi"
-"Good thanks"

Perhaps the phone system should let you enter "1" with greeting, "2" Straight.

There are 5 pizza joints within a mile of my house. While I love the convenience and variety of pizza -- from thin crust to deep dish to NY style and gourmet -- I've noticed a bit of homogeneity among the employees. Everytime I call I am always wondering just how high these kids are. It's pretty bad when you can tell he/she just set the bong down prior to answering the phone. Sooner or later I'm gonna hear lung-busting coughs in the background and a "yo B, pass that sh...".
