My favorite radio station is in another one of its endless pledge drives. I find it positively weird just how obtuse government agencies are. PBS stations beg and beg. I look at these “beggars” and feel sorry for them, because here are the crème de la crème of the highly educated class literally begging worse than Lot Lizards at my favorite truck stop, as we, their audience, turn away from the channels and stations. They destroy the very audience they cater to.

I ponder why in heck public broadcasting cannot sell ads at the beginning of a show, because their demographics will tend to be high income. Two minutes of ads every fifteen minutes would work. I know companies catering to the high income would gladly spend the money to reach them. Of course, another sticking point with me is why begged at all? Aren’t they tax funded? (I won’t even go down the road why PBS at all these days with the History Channel, etc.)

This week I read the IRS is back to random audits, as if those audited should be putting up with the IRS yet again! Isn’t once a year enough?

(I won’t go into why I am more and more pro the Fair Tax.)

Congress wants to increase taxes and I think: why?

Revenue enhancement is still a freaking tax increase, Gawd, puh-lease!

Again, Obtuseness in Action!

Here is another vent: Most Americans, even those of low IQ, can quickly get the hang of eBay, Amazon, date sites, and certainly porn sites, yet navigating through a government funded site is a nightmare of frustrations. This really hit home for me this week learning about Blackboard, the program college’s use for on-line courses. It is awful, particularly as I thought if a porn site formed a subsidiary to give Blackboard competition. Of course, such a site would flop because a college has no need to be User Friendly. Colleges and the medical industry own the politicians, so why be User Friendly.

Wal-Mart gives me back my money if I am dissatisfied, why in hell should I expect my dentist to repair for free a screw-up? Geez, my insurance company will pay—after all, the company will simply jack up rates.

Private industry can be obtuse. I have a Polaroid DRW player with an instruction manual written for engineers within the company. (I now have yet another blooming remote to contend with from DIRECTV.) Ohmygawd, why cannot a remote be built that does tasks in plain English? Here is a rule: RUN YOUR LATEST WIDGET BY A TEST AUDIENCE, OKAY.

Want to bet the iPhone ain’t gonna be as easy and cheap to use as the ads? Why should it be User Friendly or cheap for all the supposed services? It is Jesus—oops, sorry—It is Apple. Tips: you buy one, you best buy the best extended warranty offered...Calm yourself if you are going to be an iPhone lemming and find out what a battery change for example will cost? Trust me, Apple can get away with being obtuse...
