I dont know where Affirmed ever got the $17 price. I've been watching this stock on and off the last few years. I dont it ever touched $17 as an actual price. I've been watching it since late 2000, that was the only time it touched $13 at high.
The prices in the charts previous to 9/7/05 are adjust split prices. Begining in 2/18/03 when they offered a 1 for 10, reduction. Later giving back a 5 for 1 and a 2 for 1. So you initial 100 would have been reduced to 10 shares, then later split to 50 then back to 100.
One could easily say they made a bundle, if had they the foresight to invest.

Thanks, I'll check it out! Doing a trade on oil, this week, and have most of my money tied up for the moment... waiting for better entry points on some other stocks I like. Sure wish I had picked up Panera (PNRA) but I only have so much cash to go around. Dang, can't have them all. Well, wish me luck.

If you look at the 5 year chart, it never happened. All the prices are adjusted, after each split. So to get the actual price you need to multiply the price on any given date by the splits. Like ATVI recently, it looked like a price dump on the chart but it was actually a stock split.

I got in on the 4th at $49, then had a stupidity attack and got out last thursday morning at 54.50. Thought boy, I'm good, for the rest of the day, then then found it doesn't pay to get cold feet. Hoped to get back in cheaper, but didn't happen. My only consolation is that SMSC, which I replaced it with, is up 6% in 4 days, though short of the 10% I missed on TIE.
Hmmm... Down nearly 6% 1 hour into trading. Maybe I did the right thing for a change. Time to put my buyback at 54, then set my sell at 60. I tried for $55 last week, then gave up and backed off to 54.50. This baby is so volatile, you can get in and out easily at prices you want, as long as you are not too greedy. Make a few bucks, get out, and enter again, though at this point, I would still have been better off to have stayed.

Can't even tell you how many times that's happened to me, XB! Yesterday was another one... sold off RIG, it went up 50 cents higher, then dropped back around where I sold it at closing. This morning, it dropped another buck and a half and I was buffing my nails, thinking how smart I was to sell, then when I got home this afternoon, I noticed it is way up again!! Aw, to heck with it. At least I got some profit, next...

Oh, yea, TIE was way down this morning, now it's recovering a little but not much. Profit taking, I think, but I didn't read the news.

Uhhhh what are you talking about the price back then was under 20 I dont care if it split or not if you would of got it 2 years ago you would of got it for under 20. Your method for calculating what you pay seems to be the dumbest thing on this board since some guy was on here claiming he was gonna beat up cramer

Well the price you seem to have wanted to buy at never occured. The jumps in stock splits prevented that from happening. Your fantasy price is an adjusted cost as a result of a Split.
BTW you came up with the price I did not.

This was at $45 by the time I noticed it at the end of october. I thought it had already run up too much so I passed. Would have been a decent gain though.
I think one of the MSN stock picker game people got this on oct. 31st. I thought he was wrong. He wins!

I guess you can see how smart I am NOT, because I did not buy this stock, yet. I keep thinking that if I buy in, it will drop out from undre me, because it's had such a big run up. What's worse, losing money or a great opportunity? I think it's the first, but right now as I'm watching it, it's more like a draw. Should I or shouldn't I? Aaaaagh, I hate that feeling. :P

I usually translate indecision into a negative and leave alone. Means I was wrong on TIE a month back but I think this policy usually protects me.
