I believe it was on the same program, before Bills comedy relief, that Christopher Hitchens gave his opinion of Falwell, and I fully concur. In fact, I think he is right on concerning religion in general. When the pesky jehova's witnesses annoying knock continues long enough that I relent and answer, my first question for them lately is how would they feel if I knocked on their door time after time to tell them that they should not believe in god. Even further than that, sometimes they gasp incredulously, then give you a look of sadness and pity when they ask, as if to be sure they heard right, and you tell them you do not believe in god. I didn't fully understand the rigidity of the mormons until 2 if the finest young men, not long out of high school, came by and asked if I needed any help with anything. Homes are on average very close here in PR, and walking is more efficient. I often see them or their replacements when driving, always in their trademark ties, white shirts, and black pants, even on the hottest days. Their name tags said elder this and elder that, no first names. I was preparing to move some furniture soon, and they said they were in the area often and would help when I was ready. They were extremely friendly, so I felt that we were chummy enough after fifteen minutes to be on a first name basis, but when I asked they insisted on being called elder this and elder that. At the time I was over 60, and it was so ridiculous to me that I told them their help wasn't necessary. I invite all religious individuals to feel they are better and superior to my ilk, but don't expect me to agree.
