Current prices: $8.05, $1.86w, and $1.86z.
If ASTI gets thru $8.25, its warrant ASTIW should see a very nice pop to $2+.

ASTIW hits 1.99 as ASTI flirts with the 8.30 level; should see 2+ easily today on the primary warrant.

They are the warrants of ASTI:
A warrant, like an option, gives the holder the right but not the obligation to buy an underlying security at a certain price, quantity and future time. However, unlike an option, an instrument of the stock exchange, a warrant is issued by a company. The security represented in the warrant (usually share equity) is delivered by the issuing company instead of an investor holding the shares.
ASTI has two warrants that trade under the symbols ASTIW and ASTIZ.
ASTIW - offers investors the right to purchase shares of ASTI at a strike price of $6.60 a share, and expire in early 2011. These warrants are callable above $9.36 a share, which means the company can call in the warrants and require investors to (i) sell the warrants in open market at market value, or (ii) exercise the warrants to purchase the common stock at a profit.
ASTIZ - offers investors the right to purchase shares of ASTI at a strike price of $11.00 a share, and expire in early 2011. These warrants are non-callable, and offer investors a means for a long term option to purchase shares of ASTI above $11.00 at a discount until 2011.
For example, the ASTIZ class B warrants allow a person to exercise the warrant at an $11 price to receive one share of ASTI common stock. This means that if the common stock (ASTI) was trading at $22 a share, then technically the ASTIZ class B warrants should be trading no higher than $11, as it would cost $11 to buy one warrant and another $11 to exercise the warrant for one share of the common stock, and if it was trading at $30 you could exercise the warrant and 'buy' the stock at the $11 strike price and even with the included premium of $11; you'll be in $ land.
If ASTI continues its momentum and returns to $11 in a couple weeks; ASTIW should be trading in the $4 range. :) Keep a check on it.
Interesting! Thank you! :D
