Brown Forman owners of Jack Daniel's

I just want to share with you might greatest success with buying an individual stock so far. I like a taste of Jack Daniel's now and then so I bought a position in the company that owns it Brown Forman in 2003. It split in January of 2004 from $94 to $47 a share. Closed this Friday at $64.82. The message board on Yahoo is dead so I do not believe it is widely held. Cramer might call me a pig but I cannot sell a share as I see it going to $75. You have to figure they will have a great quarter with the holiday buying. It also pays a nice dividend. Check it out. :D

I'm not so sure about alcohol stocks for the holiday season, you could be right, but I'm not banking on it. The target price would be more of a consideration, I think. I was in STZ, sold off a lot higher than where it is now. My current favorites in this sector are SAM and SBUX, yes, Starbucks. They are coming out with a new coffee flavored liquour. :lol:

Interesting bit of news just came out on Brown-Forman:

Brown-Forman Corp. (BFB) on Thursday increased its quarterly cash dividend 14.3%, to 28 cents from 24.5 cents a share. The dividend is payable Jan. 1 to shareholders as of Dec. 5, the Louisville, Ky.-based alcoholic beverages company said.

Although this thread is in the wrong forum section and should be at "Forum members discuss their own stock ideas", I have some thoughts.

Glancing at a 3 year chart on this stock, Brown-Forman Corp. (BF.B), it has done nothing but slowly rise and has doubled in value the past 3 years. I think this would be a great long term growth stock that I will add to my portfolio. Thanks for bringing this one to my attention.

This company is involved in a lot more spirits other than just Jack Daniels! They also have brands like Early Times, Southern Comfort, Fetzer Wines, Bolla, Korbel, etc, etc. Wow, take a look.

Mario Gabelli was on CNBC's Squawk Box Friday morning and briefly touted Brown-Forman Corp. He had several "B" plays, such as a company who was expanding into China with a unique publication of the (B)ible, a play on (B)acteria in Dannon Yogurt, and (B)ourbon, etc as there were more. Obviously the "Bourbon" play was Brown-Forman Corp.

Quite a menu of liqour there. 8O Cramer mentioned in his book he never patronizes a business that he has shorted (when he was at hedge fund). Luckily I am long in Brown Forman and have done my part to "deplete" the inventories. Especially a boat load of Southern Comfort and Ginger Ale. Over on the Yahoo board for BF_B a couple guys are talking about industry consolidation aka a possible takeover. Hope to add to my position before Christmas!

Up over $71 now...I started this thread a month ago when it was $64+. Up about 7 points in 1 month. Not sure who is buying but someone is gobbling it up!
