Would you recommend buying NOW or waiting till mid to late 2009 to buy then, while the economy is *hopefully* at the end of the recession and starting to recover in 2010?

Since many companies have lost a lot of their market value due to the recent economic conditions, everyone has to go back up to their previous price or somewhere near it assuming all is well (company financial, management, performance, etc).

Very difficult question to answer without knowing your time frame for holds. Not to mention the common belief that the equity market recovers 8-12 months before the economy as a whole. If you believe that, and that we recover Q1 2010, now's a good time. Timing markets is a very difficult thing to do, many say it's a mugs game. Another relevant quote is "the market can remain irrational longer than you can remain solvent"- John Maynard Keynes.

Interesting! I like to quote, too.

Thanks.
