Just did a bit of research on this since people have been talking about it here and there....wow! Did anyone get in on this a week or two ago? Very big move over a short period of time for a stock of that size.

Im in on this one, got in when they anounced the 2for1 split and it soared I sold and made some money then got back in on the pullback and picked up more shares during dips prior to the march 19th split date.

Probably going to be a long term hold for me...

For those waiting in the wings, wait and see how the split impacts the stock, if it drops then get in as it will regain the 45-50 range again. Just my opionion

whats the big deal with splits? theres twice the shares and its half the price, same P/E, same fundamentals, and in the end u still have the same money, if u say its a 50 dollar stock after it splits, then it should be a 100 dollar stock now...other than the fact that many people think a 50 dollar stock is more affordable than a 100 dollar stock i dont see what the hype is about.

As with any other stock there are no concrete rules to follow, things change.
But my experiance has been that a stock of a company that has been doing well will attract more investors at the lower price, thereby pushing the stock higher after the split.
You'll often see the price drop pre-split, as owners of the stock see the upcoming split as a dulution of earnings spread over more shares.
If you're waiting to take a position, it often pays to wait until after this kind of selling and buy after the split and not before.
Of course as I stated earlier, it doesn't always work out this way, but for me it has more times than not.
Everything else Clavocat said though is true. You have double the shares at half the price (assuming a 2 for 1 split), so you don't gain anything on the split.
The gains come from new buyers at the lower price pushing it up.
